Class of 2006 Rankings

Insiders has come out with their pre-summer tournament player rankings for 2006. As usual, Maryland is in the running for several of the top 100 players. The short list includes:

Committed:

#65 PG Eric Hayes
The next true point at Maryland. Will remind many of Steve Blake since he is also a skinny white kid but, hopefully, moreso because of his play on the court. Can score and dish the ball with equal skill. A coaches son, he understands the game, and makes his teammates better.

Unranked SF Landon Milbourne
Somewhat surprising given that other scouting services such as Prepstars have him listed as high as #25. Rivals has him listed at #55. Since he reportedly did well in the AAU circuit last season it seems inexplicable but perhaps it will be sorted out by the time the fall rolls around. Look for him to make most top 100 lists.

Prospects

#11 Vernon Macklin
The jewel of this class. A true PF at 6'9" and 200 pounds. He plays on Boo Williams AAU team with Eric Hayes(Maryland). Rumors have him backing off Maryland and looking at either Georgetown or Wake Forest. The NBA remains a strong possibility as well.

#34 SG Jerome Dyson

#45 PF Duke Crews

#62 PF DaJuan Summers

#98 SG Greivis Vasquez

Lewis Witcher from Rocky Mount, Virginia is apparently down to Virginia Tech and Maryland. The 6'8" junior plays PF and will likely be a borderline top 100 player. His coach says he wants to make his decision in June or July. Maryland has other more impressive targets at forward.
