DBR Previews Terps

Duke Basketball Report has a fairly good summary of the Maryland basketball team for this upcoming season. He makes some very solid observations. My only comments would be that, while I'm a big fan of Boom Osby, he isn't in the same conversation as Lonny Baxter. They both have similar styles of play but that is about it. I'm pretty sure that Eric Hayes will go into the season as the starter at one of the guard positions. With both Hayes and Vasquez on the floor there may not be much difference between the "1" and "2" positions. I don't see Adrian Bowie or Cliff Tucker unseating the sophomore.

Gary Williams has a new website.

Maryland may have new uniforms this season. Check out the new roster photos.

These are the new faces on the team this season (from left to right): SG Adrian Bowie, SF Dino Gregory, C Braxton Dupree, C Shane Walker, PG Cliff Tucker, SG Dave Pearman (walk on).

Thoroughly enjoy your blog. Well written with good insight and analysis.

Some bad news on the Maryland Basketball Recruiting trail if you haven't checked it out yet. Terrence Jennings has withdrawn his commitment.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoy reading.

I did read about Jennings and my thoughts on that are up now. Not good news for sure but perhaps not as dire as it seems. I am of the school that thinks if a recruit isn't fully committed to the program it may be best to move on for both parties. See Melvin Aleaze, Jeff Jones, et al.

I was a little surprised given that Jennings made a point of mentioning loyalty as one of his main reasons for giving a verbal to Maryland. The Terps stuck with him when other programs had left him for other targets when his grades were suspect. Loyalty is a two way street. I don't have any issue with kids taking their time as long as it is for the right reasons.
